Sedation Dentistry & General Anesthesia

We understand that dentistry can be a challenge for children, which is why we go to great lengths to make sure we can help each child feel more relaxed for any dental treatment needs.

At Pediatric Dentistry of Pleasant Hill, we offer multiple safe and effective ways to manage your child's dental anxiety, such as nitrous oxide or minimal to moderate oral sedation. In some cases, we can also perform full mouth dental treatment under general anesthesia. General anesthesia is offered in office by a board-certified pediatric medical anesthesiologist.

Whichever treatment option you choose, our goal is to make sure your child's visit is not only successful but also as comfortable as possible. Our gentle approach, combined with our years of experience in working with children, make us uniquely suited to provide the support you need.

Special Needs Dentistry

Providing comprehensive preventive and therapeutic dental care to patients who have special healthcare needs is an important aspect of the specialty of pediatric dentistry. We value the unique qualities of each young smile we treat, and seek to ensure maximal health for all, regardless of developmental disability or other healthcare issues.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry defines special healthcare needs as “any physical, developmental, mental, sensory, behavioral, cognitive, or emotional impairment or limiting condition that requires medical management, healthcare intervention, and/or use of specialized services or programs.” Whether your child’s condition is congenital, developmental, or the result of disease or trauma, we can provide guidance and raise awareness of his or her special dental care needs.

Dental care for patients with special needs requires specialized knowledge acquired by additional training, as well as increased awareness and attention, adaptation, and accommodative measures beyond routine treatment. At our office, we have the training and experience necessary to provide suitable dental care while keeping in mind the unique nature of the children we see.

It is our goal to create a dental home for your child, where treatment can be delivered safely, and ideal dental health can be achieved.

Orthodontics:
Braces & Clear Aligners

Our in house orthodontist provides comprehensive orthodontic treatment for children of all ages. We can coordinate your orthodontic visits in conjunction with your routine dental visits to make your experience in our office as convenient as possible.

We specialize in early orthodontic treatment, which means addressing issues such as crooked teeth, anterior or posterior crossbites, and other problems as early as possible. The earlier we can identify any potential problems, the earlier we can make a plan with the least invasive methods possible. We offer a range of solutions, including expanders and headgear, traditional metal braces and clear aligners, to help correct misalignment and jaw relationships, regardless of the severity of the case.

Our team is committed to straightening your child's teeth and creating a beautiful smile that will last a lifetime. Call to schedule a consult so we can customize the treatment plan to best meet your child’s needs.
